Chalk DustI saw the boxes on his floor,  full of things no one needs,  empty cigarette cartons, holes with socks around them.  He said to me the dog was his only friend  One who would not judge or waver.  It was as if he was rainwater,  evaporated to somehwere else.  I looked at the stain on the carpet,  the remaining chalk dust,  the toys for the dog that never came,  and I closed the door to the boxes.
